Backcountry Recording was established in 1987 out of Longmont, CO as a family run business by Mark Waters. The business has grown to include Mark’s wife Renge, his son Tristen, his daughter Sita and two loyal employees and long time family friends, Reuben Pacheco and Sophia Hoffer-Perkins. His son, Tristen, runs the vast majority of day-to-day operations at this point.
Mark began Backcountry Recording to share alternative, life-transformative information, and to give a voice to that which doesn’t generally reach the mainstream, such as holistic health and spirituality.
Over the years, we have widened our scope to include a broader range of topics, including paranormal studies, alternative energy, wilderness travel, ecology, agriculture, alternative lifestyle and backcountry sports such as canoeing, skiing & backpacking.
We have developed a reputation for excellence in working with long-term clients such as The Omega Institute, Naropa University, The Chopra Center, The American Herbalist Guild, and The Society for Integrative Oncology.
